Background

Oz Choppers, a commercial helicopter refurbishment business based in Mudgee, was looking to reduce operational energy costs while making a meaningful environmental impact.

Given the technical nature of their operations — including workshop facilities and spray booth sheds — a tailored solar solution was essential. SPS conducted a detailed 14-day consumption assessment before presenting a design, ensuring the system would align precisely with real-world usage.

The Solution

SPS designed and installed two 15kW grid-connected solar systems, carefully configured to integrate with the site’s dual three-phase metering points.

The installation included:

  • 120 PV modules
  • 2 x SMA STP 15kW three-phase inverters
  • System integration across workshop and spray booth infrastructure

The result is a highly efficient 30kW commercial solar system delivering an average daily output of 146kWh.
